Hungary Family Visa

A family visa in Hungary is an agreement that allows third-country, non-EU, and non-EEA nationals the means of staying in Hungary along with their family members who are legally residing there.
It helps unite family ties by granting permission to a spouse, children, and other dependent family members to stay together in the state of Hungary. The Family Visa is an excellent medium for those working, studying, or living permanently in Hungary to have their loved ones come and settle with them.

Who Can Apply for the Family Visa?

There are now Family Visas for immediate relatives including:
spouses, minor children, other dependent relatives of non-EU/EEA nationals registered on the territory of Hungary; in possession of a valid residence permit, work visa or student visa or if such a person is registered in the register of Hungarian citizenship.

Family members seeking to be with their family for more than 90 days must be able to use this type of visa so they can legally enter and live permanently in the country.

Conditions for the Family Visa:

Application for a Family Visa shall have to comply with the general requirements. These include:

  • Duly accomplished application form and valid passport of all members of the family.
  • Translation and authentication by official authorities of officially established documents proving the family relationship.
  • Declaration of registered legal status in Hungary of the primary member, such as a valid work or residence permit.
  • Means of Subsistence, evidence that the supporter can appropriately support his/her members of his family. That may involve bank statements, an employment contracts or a letter of economic guarantee.
  • Proof of Accommodation, proof of accommodation in Hungary-for example, the contract for renting or ownership deed.
  • Health Insurance, over the family member and covering him during his sojourn in Hungary.

Procedure and processing time:

Requests for Family Visa must be marched at a Hungarian delegation or deputation in the interviewee’s republic of derivation. Submissions take insufficient weeks to be administered so it is judicious to file the request as initial as possible.

Once in Hungary, family members have to apply for the residence permit for family reunification at the Immigration Office in order to remain there.
